SOUL TRAIN AWARDS 2009...

Last Night I tuned in to watch an amazing show with some of the world's hottest artists, musicians and music legends. That show was the SOUL TRAIN AWARDS 2009 hosted by Terrance Howard & Taraji P. Henson.

The night opened with an amazing performance by a lovely TONI BRAXTON &TREY SONGZ where they performed "YESTERDAY" off her new album, "PULSE". The two artists stunned viewers by giving each other one very 'intimate' KISS! Definitely a brilliant way to start the show!!!
Watch it here:

The night continued to showcase some of the many very talented artists today including a very sexy KERI HILSON who performed three of her top singles and she also managed to win not just ONE award, but TWO! The first award given to Miss Hilson (Song writer/Singer) was for "BEST NEW ARTIST" presented to her by MONICA and for "BEST COLLABORATION" for her single "KNOCK YOU DOWN" featuring KANYE WEST and NE-YO presented to her by LUDACRIS. When presenting this award, Luda stated that "All the parts come together to produce a beautiful sound."

MORE VIDEOS AND DETAILS WHEN YOU READ THE REST!!!!
Other awards included "BEST REGGAE ARTIST", presented to SEAN PAUL, "CENTRIC AWARD" went to MAYSA, "BEST MALE ARTIST" went to MAXWELL, "BEST GOSPEL PERFORMANCE" went to MARY MARY/ KIERA "KIKI" SHEARD and "RECORD OF THE YEAR" went to JAMIE FOXX ft T-PAIN for their single "BLAME IT".

Awards were given to BEYONCE, who received the "ALBUM OF THE YEAR" award for her album "I AM ... SASHA FIERCE", "BEST FEMALE R&B/SOUL ARTIST" and "SONG OF THE YEAR" for her single "SINGLE LADIES". Here is her acceptance speech!

"ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR" was awarded to MICHAEL JACKSON (OF COURSE). They honored Michael Jackson and mentioned that "Just like Soul Train, Michael has left an incredible mark and impact."

A very sexy performance by TREY SONGZ left many girls on my Twitter "glued to their screens without blinking", "having thoughts they shouldn't" and "left breathless" when he performed his single "I INVENTED SEX" off his new album "READY". My thoughts? Well when you are as fine as TREY SONGZ, then why not give the ladies what they want to hear (IN HIS MUSIC OF COURSE!). Watch the video here:

Many artists graced the stage to pay tribute to MOTOWN RECORDS to celebrate 50 years of Motown's success including Barbadian Rising Stars HAL LINTON and VITA CHAMBERS. HAL LINTON performed alongside Canadian born MELANIE FIONA , where they sang "THROUGH THE GRAPE VINES". VITA CHAMBERS performed "GET READY" with ESTELLE whilst BOYS II MEN performed their hit song "END OF THE ROAD". "MY, MY, MY" was performed by JOHNNY GILL and MIKE PHILLIPS and CHICO DEBARGE performed "I LIKE IT".

I must say BOYS II MEN really have aged!!!

MUSIC SOULCHILD & ANTHONY HAMILTON introduced an extremely soulful CHRISETTE MICHELE. where she sang "EPIPHANY". Talented ROBIN THICKE performed his new single "SEX THERAPY" and believe me when I say he has a way of making you want to stop everything you are doing just to listen to his sweet voice. Here is his performance.

MARIO performed "BREAK UP" whilst singer/songwriter RYAN LESLIE performed "TRANSITION

A special tribute was also paid to CHARLIE WILSON, also known as "UNCLE CHARLIE". Artists such as GENUINE, who performed "EARLY IN THE MORNING", BRIAN MCKNIGHT and KANDI BURRUSS performed "YEARNING FOR YOUR LOVE", "BURN RUBBER" was performed by BOOTSY COLLINS, K-CI, JOJO and Grammy winner, RAHEEM DEVAUGHN performed "OUTSTANDING" and was joined by LUDACRIS on stage for his act.

The night ended off with a massive tribute to the one and only, CHAKA KHAN. She was awarded as "SOUL TRAIN'S  AWARD ICON". Involved in the tribute were ERYKAH BADU, singing "STAY", FANTASIA performing "TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD", LEDISI with "THROUGH THE FIRE" and ANGIE STONE singing "AINT NOBODY" with the entire cast.

This event was the platform for the beginning of BET's new network "CENTRIC" and what a BRILLIANT FOUNDATION to build on.

All in all the night was great and I enjoyed sharing it with all of you and keeping you updated all throughout the show from the RED CARPET to the AWARDS following through to the END OF THE SHOW.

I will be updating pictures and videos as soon as I get any for you!
